The Blackpool beach

Beautiful sunset at Blackpool beach near the North Pier. Photo taken during recent visit to Blackpool last December

One of my favourite places in Blackpool is without a doubt the beach. Blackpool boasts a long beach and beautiful beach.

Nothing like our Semenanjung east coast beaches, of course. More like Port Dickson, I would say, air agak keruh. Cuma it is not as muddy as PD.

When the tide is out, you have over a kilometer of flat clean sandy beach to walk to the sea. You can see seagulls swirling above, whilst shells and starfish litter the beach after a storm.

The sunset is absolutely stunning. As a budding shutterbug masa tu, it was a frequent photographic subject of mine.

But come winter, the storms that thunder in from the Irish Sea could scare the hell out of you.

I wonder if anybody else finds the beach as interesting as me. May be some of us boys would find it especially a convenient place to hang out during the summer untuk “cuci mata”?

But the sisters? Dia orang semua takut air. I bet - during their whole two-year stay in Blackpool, none of them ever set foot on the beach and got their feet wet in the cold water.

  1. Not right, sisters too liked the beach.Well at least I can say that for me and my closest buddies. We lived in North Shore and whenever we need to clear our heads we just walked down to the beach, feel the wind ,watch (and hear) the seagulls and sometimes got our feet wet.I've visited your blog before and I really like your pics.

  2. Sdri Anonymous,

Betul ke sisters ever set foot at the beach at all??! Quite hard to believe la. I thought the sisters only studied and studied.Go to Fine Fare to buy the groceries for a short while, and then go home study some more :)

  3. Salaam Tn,

I remembered that once we actually swam at the Norbreck Castle beach. I was with at least 3 others, I can vaguely remembered Roshid as one of the culprit. The water wasn't muddy but wasn't crystal clear either. However we weren't in the water for long as it was a bit chilly even in summer. If we had known that the Selafield nuclear power station discharges their cooling water into that sea, we wouldn't take our chance to swim there. 'Cuci mata' you say????? Naaaah we wouldn't do that sort of things... brothers we are.....

We have a senior lady convert which I forgot her name. At last if I can remember sisters found her dead at her home. She was quite a good Muslim and good story of animosity between Christians in Britain at that time.

The Beach? Sure, we used to play football in summer at 4.00am!(or perhaps a bit later). Its icy cold, I wonder why we didnt take up fishing at that time.
